The Hans-Thoma-award 2011, most important art prize of Baden-Wurttemberg, is on August 14 in Bernau that puts contemporary artist Karin Sander awarded with the main art prize of Baden-Wurttemberg Bernau in the southern black forest in the interest of art and culture: on August 14, the internationally renowned contemporary artist Karin Sander Gets the 44th Hans-Thoma-Preis. The big prize for Visual Arts of Baden-Wurttemberg is endowed with 25,000 euros and pays tribute to an artist, whose creating represents an important contribution to the development of newer art and at the same time national recognition has found. Following a new artwork for the Museum of a tradition the laureate donates one of his works the Museum. Karin Sander created their contribution for the prize exhibition directly on-site. During the installation it refers to the atmosphere and architecture of the exhibition space, as well as the works of the other prize winners. The 54-year old artist and Professor for Architecture and art (ETH Zurich) became known in 2002 with a large retrospective in the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart in the Southwest.

Famous works of art in the small village of the Black Forest is named after in Bernau-born landscape and portrait painter Hans Thoma (1839-1924). Since 1950, 43 painter, graphic artist, sculptor, photo – and object artist received the Hans-Thoma-Preis. You were born in Baden-Wurttemberg, or have a focus of her artistic work in the South West. Thus, the award winners exhibition presents a representative sample of 60 years of art from Baden-Wurttemberg, including Emil Bizer, Wilhelm Saikat, Otto Dix, Peter Dreher, Jurgen Brodwolf, Anselm Kiefer, Thomas Ruff and Tobias Rehberger. On August 14, the ceremony begins award ceremony on 14 August at 10:30 in the Kurpark in Bernau, frazione inner fiefdoms. State Secretary Jurgen Walter MdL gives the Hans-Thoma-Preis. The eulogy is Professor Dr. PIA Muller-Tamm, Director of the Staatliche Kunsthalle.
